Rene B Salgado, PhD is Global AEBD’s founder and president. Rene combines his entrepreneurial skill-set and values, with an intrapreneurial experience of more than twenty years in economic and social development projects, entrepreneurship growth, and higher education. He has worked with international organizations, private companies, and university institutions in the US and Latin America, and continues to do consulting work in areas pertaining to entrepreneurial growth and innovation. Rene is a strong believer in the power of entrepreneurial social capital, in boosting unprivileged people’s self-reliance, and in the ethical and productive use of Internet technologies for positive social change. He holds a PhD from the University of Maryland Graduate School in Policy Sciences.
Matthew Zamora is Global AEBD’s Chief Technical Officer. Matthew is a serial technology entrepreneur who previously founded a digital marketing and production company called Enact Productions. He has a diverse set of technical knowledge and skills including advanced web application development, mobile application design, and digital marketing. He applies his talents towards the design, planning, and implementation of Global AEBD’s EmpreSomos platform. He is an experienced project leader, and oversees a growing team of developers. Matthew holds dual degrees in Psychology and Physiology/Neurobiology at the University of Maryland, College Park.
Octavio Martinez, PhD is a Professor of Competitive and Corporate Strategy at the prestigious Instituto Centroamericano de Administracion de Empresas – INCAE. He has worked as a consultant in creating and implementing business strategic plans, as well as in evaluating investment projects for companies in the food and beverage, agribusiness, energy, and real estate industries. Octavio has conducted several pioneering studies on current managerial and economic challenges faced by small and medium enterprises in the Central American region. He holds a PhD from the Rotman School of Management, University of Toronto.
Juan Jose Juarez Calvo is a Consulting Director at Swap 4 Innovation in Madrid, Spain. This is a company with a focus on social entrepreneurship, innovation and creative thinking. Earlier, he was a Director of Entrepreneurship programs at Ashoka, and a General Coordinator of Spain´s Fundación Exit. Juan Jose has significant experience in such areas as Corporate Responsibility Projects, entrepreneurial partnerships, social enterprises, and fundraising.
Derene Allen is an experienced corporate executive, international entrepreneur and social entrepreneur. She teaches Social Entrepreneurship and Innovation for the Silicon Valley Immersion Program at the University of San Francisco, and is on the Board of A New America — a microenterprise nonprofit providing entrepreneurship training and technical assistance to targeted communities for economic and social empowerment – and the Bay Area Chapter of the Social Enterprise Alliance — a membership organization that facilitates a participatory platform for innovation, entrepreneurship and community engagement. She has also launched and managed a social enterprise in the Bay Area, designed to create healthy, dignified jobs for low income Latinas.
Derene started her professional career with American Express in Latin America and has co-founded successful business ventures in the Latin American region. She earned an MBA in International Management from the Thunderbird School of Global Management, and is trilingual in English, Spanish and Portuguese.
Ben Taitelbaum is a Global AEBD’s Senior Technical Advisor. Ben is a serial entrepreneur, most recently as founder and president of Coshx Labs, a technical consulting and development firm. Between running a business, doing development, and advising, he finds time to teach web development to aspiring developers. He has a Master in Computer Science from the University of Virginia.
Dr. Ralph Griffith is an Assistant Professor of Entrepreneurship at the Charles M. Snipes School of Business, and the Director of the Center for Commercial and Social Entrepreneurship at Lenoir-Rhyne University of Hickory, North Carolina. Dr. Griffith, who also teaches Social Entrepreneurship at Stanford University, was previously a faculty member at Delta College where he taught entrepreneurship, management, leadership, and coordinated the Entrepreneurship program. Prior to entering academia, Dr. Griffith has owned and operated a number of ventures. In 2006, he began The Small Business Solutions Group and has since then consulted with hundreds of small to medium size companies. Ralph received a B.A. in political science from Alma College, an M.B.A in integrated management from Northwood University, and a Doctorate in Entrepreneurial and Small Business Operations from Baker College.
Boone Gorges is a freelance web developer and software consultant based in New York. He is the Lead Developer and Director of Research Projects for the CUNY Academic Commons and Commons In A Box. He specializes in the development of WordPress plugins, and is on the core development team of such WordPress-related project as BuddyPress and Anthologize. Gorges holds an MPhil in Philosophy from the CUNY Graduate Center.

Gabriel Golcher is a User Interface Design Consultant. He has worked as a User Experience Designer since 2008 providing interactive design, UX research, visual design and UI design/demonstrations to many types of clients. Gabriel earned his BS in Computer Science, Software Engineering and Mathematics from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, his Master of Human-Computer Interaction from Carnegie Mellon University, his MBA from IE (Instituto de Empresa) Business School, his MS in Psychology from Walden University and a Professional Certificate in Innovation and Entrepreneurship from Stanford University.
Jose E Samayoa assists Global AEBD with the identification of potential International Partners. He graduated Cum Laude from Lindenwood University in St. Charles, MO, where he earned a B.A. in International Business/Business Administration. Jose was both born and raised in Honduras, and is fluently bi-lingual. Jose has been very active in Global AEBD’s crowdfunding campaign for our Central American entrepreneurial growth program. He assists the organization in areas pertaining to marketing and organizational outreach capacities, and has a demonstrated ability to perform independently and as a team player.
